IPL/Photofacial
IPL, or Intense Pulsed Light is most commonly known as The Photo Facial. Wonderful treatment that can address different pigmented and vascular imperfections which can appear on your face, neck, hands and chest preventing you from looking and feeling your best. ICON MAXG™ IPL treatment gives you one convenient solution to treat them all — quickly and with minimal discomfort and downtime. Also is a great anti-aging treatment to help boost our collagen production! Great for sun-damage, age spots, rosacea, facial veins, and anti-aging.
The aging process affects the skin in many ways: fine lines and wrinkles, sun damage, acne scars, and spider veins can all impact a person’s appearance at the same time. So it only makes sense that the best results would come from a treatment that can address all of these signs of aging at the same time. *Please note we only treat skin types 1-3. You can have no tan or direct sun exposure 3 weeks before treatment. We do not do this treatment in the Summer months. This treatment requires a test spot treatment 7 days prior to treatment.
IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) FAQ
What is IPL?
IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) is a non-invasive light-based treatment that targets pigment and redness in the skin to create a clearer, more even complexion.
What does IPL treat?
IPL improves sun damage, brown spots, redness, broken capillaries, rosacea-related flushing, uneven skin tone, and signs of aging.
How does IPL work?
IPL delivers pulses of light that are absorbed by pigment and blood vessels in the skin. This energy breaks down discoloration while stimulating collagen for overall skin rejuvenation.
Does IPL hurt?
Most clients describe IPL as a quick snapping or warming sensation. Comfort measures are used as needed, and treatments are generally well tolerated.
Is there downtime after IPL?
Downtime is minimal. You may experience redness or swelling for 24–48 hours. Dark spots may temporarily darken before flaking off within 7–10 days.
When will I see results?
Some improvements are visible within a few weeks, with continued clearing and collagen stimulation over time as treatments progress.
How many IPL treatments will I need?
A series of 2-3 treatments spaced about 4 weeks apart is typically recommended for optimal results.
Is IPL safe?
Yes, when performed by trained professionals using medical-grade devices. A skin assessment is required to determine candidacy and appropriate settings.
Who is not a candidate for IPL?
IPL may not be recommended for very dark skin tones, tanned skin, active infections, pregnancy, or clients using certain medications that increase light sensitivity.
How should I prepare for IPL?
Avoid direct sun exposure (2 weeks prior), tanning, self-tanner, retinoids, and active skincare ingredients 7 days before treatment. Arrive with clean, makeup-free skin.
